What happens if you run
slmgr /ato
In a command prompt with admin privileges?
You can try this, but don't know if it will help:
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
Unfortunately you didn't see this:
so we've no idea what your build is.
You have two options:
a. get an iso using the media creation tool
if you have 2004 now, this will let you do an upgrade repair install
if you have an older build, this will attempt to upgrade you to 2004.
b. If you have an older build e.g. 1809 and wish to repair that build, use the tutorial on downloading a Win 10 iso file to get an 1809 iso file.
Do you have a particular reason to stay with an older major build, if that's what you have?
welp that didnt go well. ended up using the update tool, and get stuck in a advanced blue screen setting loop. nothing worked, had to download the windows install on usb and do it from scratch, lost all my files passwords etc. haha .
NOW ill start backing up everything.
NOTE to everyone, be sure to back up everything before you start tweaking windows at all.
Disk imaging, disk imaging, disk imaging. Oh, did I mention routinely and regularly using disk imaging? (Macrium Reflect - free/paid)
Plus enable and schedule System Restore. When it does work it's great.
But those won't save you if the problem occurred before your oldest restorable option, however you will have a full file backup of imaged partitions.
