Ms has gone Bonkers here (update times)

    Hi folks

I'm not sure how ms collects this data but it's hopelessly wrong

Ms has gone Bonkers here (update times)-wpd.png

I rarely use computers after 22.00 (local time) so how on earth do they gather info on Windows that computer is in use between 22.00 and 10.00

Windows computers are switched off and Windows VM's powered off so there's rarely anything running during the night at my place -- Linux NAS systems / servers don't count anyway as they've usually always been running 24 hrs for several years now.

    Cheers

Nice one !!! but I'd probably use "More Un-parliamentary Language" than in your screen shot. !!!!!!

How about also adjusting the time to 00:00 and 23.59 as well while we are at it. !!

I saw that note some time ago under v.1903 and had the same ????. My system is normally powered down at night except on Fridays when the system is left running for a full system AV scan. The active hours is set from 6:00A to 11:00P. I figured M$ was using the one night per week of operation as the basis for the note. I pause WU and only unpause it when I’m ready to do updates, so I make sure the updates are done and restarted when I’m available. Once done WU is paused again for a couple of months.

    Edwin,

Are those Active hours correct for you, or do you use your PC at different times normally? I just checked one of my PCs, and it shows the same 4AM to 9PM, but the real hours are 12PM to 9PM. Odd that it's showing a timeframe so off from real use.

Tell MS that it's none of their business and that you'll choose your own active hours, thank you very much!

Tell them to stop playing with you active hours here:

I have that off also, but I was wondering why it shows 4AM to 9PM when that clearly isn't my "usual" usage, and since Edwin's post shows the exact same, I asked him if that is indeed correct. I did an internet search, and found a couple results posted with the same times, so I'm guessing it's a glitch or something. I know the PC is not on/used at 4AM.

If you turned off automatic adjustment before it had made any adjustments, then you'd be left with the default hours set by a clean install. I guess that 4am to 9pm is just a default setting.
