Right-click on the Start button -->Windows PowerShell (Admin).
Run the following command to show the Windows Update settings page:

    Code:
    Reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /v "SettingsPageVisibility" /f

    However it does not work.
It seems to me that "hide:windowsupdate" is the wrong value for the SettingsPageVisibility Registry keys.
Shouldn't it be something like the opposite:
    show:windowsupdate
    ?

    But this doesn't work too
SettingsPageVisibility is not a Key, it is a Value held in a key. It only exists when that group policy is configured, it is not there in a standard install of Windows that has no group policy in place.

If it exists in either of the two possible places in the registry, then it should be deleted. This would be the same as setting that group policy to 'not configured'.

    All users:
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

If the value SettingsPageVisibility exists here, then delete it.

    Current user:
    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

You can delete the key named Explorer, it would not normally be found in a standard install of Home.

    Edit:

Glad to hear that, guess you deleted your SettingsPageVisibility after all

The key "Explorer" exists on my Home by default.

Sorry for my poor English. Can "yes" be a proper answer to a question beginning with "How"?

Which one? HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer does not exist in a clean install of Home, but HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer does. Neither of them would have a SettingsPageVisibility value though.

I don't think that was meant as a reply to you, I think it was a reply to my "...guess you deleted your SettingsPageVisibility after all...".

If so, it would be interesting to know which one (or both) of HKLM or HKCU had the SettingsPageVisibility value that @pstein deleted.

I am sorry. Yes, you are right. It does not exist.

The reply is right below my question, so it seems a reply to me.
