Surface Keyboard driver ready - No Surface Keyboard Here

    Windows 10 Pro v1909

Today I got offered on Windows Update:
    Surface - Keyboard 1.0.104.0
Ready to download when I am not on a Metered Connection

In Devices I have a "Digital Media Keyboard" , no Surface Keyboard listed.

What do I do with this thing?

The only thing I found was...... "Is there a driver for Microsoft Digital Media Pro KC-0405 that will work in Windows 10?"

Microsoft stopped supporting your keyboard around version 2 or 3 of their Windows Mouse and Keyboard Center. If yours is current it will be v11.1.137.0 or so.

    Thanks for that Jacee.
I never installed any dedicated driver for this keyboard, I don't use any of the multimedia functions, just use it as a keyboard. So the generic Windows keyboard driver has always been just fine.
I'm concerned that this driver will change/complicate things. I'd like it to go away!

Mmmm. Ran the troubleshooter and hide the update. But it didn't go away.
I recall, in the dustier parts of my brain, that there is a way to reset WU. Maybe that is necessary. I will search the tutorials!

Never offered, just downloaded and installed and I don't have a Surface Keyboard.

Only finding this out after looking at my Reliability Monitor, then under Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View Update History > Driver Updates.

This, the corresponding entry in Driver Store:

If I had to guess it's a wireless security patch trigger by installing my back up Microsoft wireless mouse earlier in the evening otherwise just another unaccounted for Microsoft update.

An experience about wireless activity, checking the Network section in File Explorer showed a device with a name I didn't recognize, exploration of its Properties showed it was an Amazon device which led me to my wife's Kindle book reader which also has Bluetooth and an on-screen keyboard. I have saved some Bluetooth keyboards from junked tablets, still work and can be detected by Notebooks. All that to say that if there's a signal out there it will be picked up by something.
