Cant activate, please help

Hi

I entered my product key, clicked activate.
Got message saying that windows could not be activated b/c the servers couldn't be reached (I didn't realize I wasn't connected to my router)
Connected computer to router
Problem now, is there is nothing to click on to activate, except for one thing - 'change product key'
Tried that, then got a message saying the key could not be used, as it's already used on another device - this one
So now, there is nothing to click on to preform the activation

What do I do, please?

Try opening a command prompt with admin privileges and run:
slmgr /ato

Whats that? A generic lic code? Why a) is that publicly avail, b) would anyone (incl. me) need to buy a lic if that can be used?

VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T is the generic key for W10 Pro. It is publicly available. This is the key that is installed if you do a clean install of Pro and skip entering a key when asked. It cannot be used on its own to activate Windows, but if there is an existing digital license held for this PC on Microsoft's activation servers, then it will activate from the digital license.

If your PC has ever had W10 Pro activated before, then it will already have a digital license and the generic Pro key will let it activate from the digital license.

Sometimes there are KMS problems.

I didn't see where riffwraith was trying to do a corporate KMS activation. If so, then they need to talk to their corporate IT department.

It was an inquiry as to why Microsoft global support was unable to help.
