Had the same issue with WU but after running In Place Restore and running WU again I’m at 19041.508
“And there was much rejoicing in the land”
Yes indeed, there was and remains still, much rejoicing in the Bermuda Triangle tonight! After doing the In House Restore (or whatever this is called) all is well.
Weird though, for the Update that gave me such joyful grief (KB4571756) cannot be found. It does leave one wondering, doesn't it. The only thing that updated was the .NET Framework (KB4576478) and I tried twice after that and there is no other updates. Totally weird and wonderful indeed! May we have a noisy moment of silence please.
Checked that when things were first up and running. Nothing there in the history shows the August update or this one that was giving me such joy. It possibly will grab onto it later ... would you think so?
I've had enough with the Update problems. I'll just allow Windows to check that and go from there. Also, I think what I'll do, is download the ISO (or whatever this is called) and have it ready for the next round of griefs. If I understand it correctly, does not one download the whole thing & have it ready for a potential problem? Or maybe, I'll just study the instructions on that and if any questions, which there will be, I can just start another thread unless you advise otherwise.
Definitely save the ISO. Rename it something descriptive like... Win10 x64 v2004.iso
This is the very same ISO you would use to do a CLEAN install of Windows 10. When you run it, you would just choose Install, rather than Upgrade. So it's worth saving somewhere. It's only like 4GB is size.
I just burnt mine to a CD, cause I have CDs and an optical drive. You can use it to make a USB stick, installer as well.
I copied my Windows ISO file onto the second, NTFS partition of a bootable Windows PE device, which can be used to repair/install Windows as well as back up files if anything untoward happens.
