I did the reinstall with win10 ISO. Check to make sure to keep settings/apps, make sure check/install updates and run. Took 10 mins and updates got installed, no adverse affects to system.

Previously some experiencing error codes when attempting to apply an update have had success after performing an in-place upgrade repair install (tutorial available) which keeps all progs and data.

It shouldn't be that way, of course, and there ought to be more targetted solutions. However, you may well end up spending more time trying to find one than going that.

Perhaps that what lovs2build is referring to in post #32

You can try running setupdiag.exe (free from MS) and see if that gives any help. However that seems to be a limited tool.

I have just had a quick look through this thread. The OP is referring to version 2004 but the below would probably also be relevant to other versions.

[1] Running Windows Update Troubleshooter might give some indication as to the problem . . .

    > Troubleshoot Problems in Windows 10 with Troubleshooters

[2] Did you download and install the August 2020 Servicing Stack Update KB4570334? . . .

    > KB4570334 Servicing Stack Update for Windows 10 v2004 - August 11

[3] It was commented in one of the posts that if you had Windows Mixed reality installed, that uninstalling it and then running WU again seemed to work. See these . . .

    > Check if your PC supports Windows Mixed Reality in Windows 10
    > Uninstall and Reset Windows Mixed Reality in Windows 10

Basically, uninstall Mixed Reality, try to install the WU, and then re-install Mixed Reality.

    [4] Run SFC . . .

    > Run SFC Command in Windows 10

    [5] If all else fails, the perform an In-Place-Upgrade . . .

    > Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Option [5] above is probably a very good option.

The above are just observations made by me on the posts that have already been made in this thread.

I just thought I would try and help!

    I hope this helps.

OK @IcarusLSC, it was just a thought.

It might hopefully help others with the same problem that come to this thread looking for an answer. However, it does seem to be a common problem!

It seems like a hardware and/or driver issue to me, I don't know for sure though...
