    Old Intel Display drivers?

    Does anyone have any idea why I would receive old Intel display drivers today on the 24/08/20?

    That 'Extension' item might be its display audio component.

    @Kol12

    It looks like the Display Driver itself is relatively new. Just the extension seems to be old. The extension may not have had or needed any improvements.

    If the version date is 6/5/20 why would I have only received it now?

    I really couldn't tell you. I would assume it has to do with Microsoft's rollout schedule, somehow.

    That seems like a good enough assumption. BTW I recall there was a new Windows Update setting in version 2004 to not download device driver updates. Does anyone know where that setting is?

    Yeah. When you "check for Updates", it also shows "Optional Updates" that you can choose to download and install.
    Iirc, that is where MS now places the driver updates.

    The version date is when Intel released the driver. But a driver will not be added to Microsoft's update servers immediately on release, not without it being tested first.

    Microsoft said:
    Last in the driver distribution chain is Microsoft. IHVs and OEMs submit drivers to Microsoft, and we flight these drivers within our engineering system and, eventually, to Windows Insiders. If the driver performs well, we release it to Window Update (WU) for Windows customers to download automatically. If the driver doesn’t meet our standards, we reject the driver and ask the IHV or OEM to make updates that will improve how the driver works with Windows.

    In the case of your driver it was added to the update catalog on 8/13/2020
