Matthew, just a quick question pse.
If you have the same processor as me, do you have the same sound setup ? I have realtek, and before I could access the equaliser etc to suit what I wanted, but now all that has gone, its just volume controls ?
Have you installed a Realtek audio driver? I have Realtek ALC887 but have never installed an audio driver, so I have no RtkNGUI64.exe.

I had to think for a while before I could understand that your above "before" means "previously".
thanks to both of you, I'll give it all a try, so far all the installations etc are going well.
Its like a new broom, and I'm just putting back the bookmarks and programmes etc that I want, with everything backed up regardless. Like having a new PC.
I don't know what to do about word packages though, which I've started in another section.
Sorry about the "before", I tend to type sometimes in slang type talk as I'm thinking.
I don't have a Realtek folder on the computer now, consequently I don't have that exe file. This is the Realtek site, the 258MB file seems to be the one.

Alternatively, as Matthew says, if that link works for him, then maybe it would work for me ?
There are lots of sites that discuss this driver, among them is a microsoft one.
