Not as such as its protected you have to run diskclean let it scan the drive then do a second scan for system files it should then find it and you can remove all the old install see How to Delete Windows.old Folder and Files from Windows 10 - YouTube
Hello @camelia,
That folder is created when you upgrade from one version of Windows to another. It contains ALL the files and data from your previous Windows installation. You can use it to RESTORE the OS back to the old version of Windows or mount it and retrieve files and folders.
If you are happy with the way the OS is running and performing then it is OK to delete. You can delete it through Disk Cleanup. It gets automatically deleted after 10 days anyway!
You could actually back it up somewhere first though.
More information here => Delete Windows.old Folder in Windows 10.
I hope this helps!
The windows.old can be:
a) automatically deleted (typically > 10 days after a windows upgrade
b) manually deleted if you plan not to return to an older windows version/build
c) saved to another drive or the cloud as a backup option in case there is in the future: malware, ransomware, corruption of the operating system or registry, failure to boot, unexpected drive failure, etc.
Thank you @Paul Black
Yes I am happy with the way the OS is running and performing
So I will use
Delete Windows.old Folder in Windows 10
OPTION FIVE
Delete "Windows.old" and "$Windows.~BT" Folders in Storage Sense Settings
Thanks
