    KB4562899 - Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 & 4.8

2020-07 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64 (KB4562899)

What's up with this update? It appears that Microsoft is installing this "Preview" update without the option to decline. As a general rule, I don't install "Preview" updates. From my experiences with Windows 7, preview updates can can cause problems.

Apparently, I can't stop this update.

The keyword "Preview" indicates that the update hasn't been fully tested and certified safe and reliable.

Preview updates are risky. My lessons learned from Windows 7 are to never install preview updates. Twice I had to reload the OS, because a preview update caused the system to fail the SFC /SCANNOW test.

In this case, the preview updates caused my HP Support Assistant to fail to fully open. Now, I've got to roll back to v1909 to resolve my problems. HP Support is not supporting v2004 yet, and they refuse to project a date for v2004 support.

HP Support Assistant should be destroyed by fire.

Unfortunately, it was my only application to update HP OEM device drivers. And, I'm still waiting for HP Support to update all their software and device drivers for v2004. HP Support doesn't support anything, and they refuse to provide a projected support date for v2004. They fail to update their software and driver download webpage. I installed a few device drivers from the HP Support Assistant, that I didn't see on the download page.

I don't recommend HP computers. Look for a manufacture that actually supports their products.

None of the consumer machines are really supported after about 2 years anyway. I refuse to sell or reccomend a consumer marketed computer to anyone.

Twice I had to reload the OS, because a preview update cased the system to fail the SFC /SCANNOW test.
I always recommend a program like Macrium to do MONTHLY image backups to an external drive to save people from this issue.
