Windows update = why does 2020-7 update install before 2020-01

    Hi folks

I know Ms sometimes works on a different planet to the rest and their logic follows some totally unpredictable path but can anybody tell me why the update for 2020-07 is installing while the one for 2020-01 is stiill "pending install".

Surely if 2020-01 is a "Pre-req" for 2020-07 it should be installed first -- if it's not needed after 2020-07 installs (i.e 2020-07 "supercedes" 20-01) then why is 2020-01 shown as "pending install".

Perhaps those more used to the ways of Ms can enlighten me !!!!

The entry 2020-01 is not a Cumulative update. It exists entirely independently of Cumulative updates. It is neither a pre-req for nor superceded by any Cumulative update.

    Hi there
probably the correct explanation - but the way it's labelled obviously can cause confusion to some people -- it implies that the update is required before the later one --otherwise why just have the data in the title - surely in the title line just add a few letters can't be hard saying say optional update with the date. Can't be hard for developers to add a few extra letters into the text name object surely.
