Wait 2004 update or install it manually

    Wait 2004 update or install it manually


    Hi

    I got in the windows update the 2004 version but I choose to wait a week now the avilable update is gone and the message retuend that my PC not ready. I downloaded the manual update and it say my PC is comptabile to update to version 2004 so should I wait or install the update manually ?

    The usual reason for the offer of 2004 being withdrawn is that Microsoft have discovered an issue relating to hardware or software on your PC that may cause problems. Once Microsoft have resolved those issues it will be offered again.

    So no, the safest advice is to wait until it's offered again. If you really must install it manually, then make sure you have made a system image you could restore if it all goes badly wrong.

    And to be honest, there's little that's really new in 2004. If you are currently on 1909 you'd be hard pressed to see any difference.

    It still has a few bugs to clear up, but no more than any other new version on first release.

    1909 is in full support with security and non-security patches until May 2021, so there's no need to rush into 2004.
