I don't believe it is safe. Not all issues are resolved.

If you do install create and Image first so you have something to fall back to.

My pc has only ever had windows 10 from new and they now say it is not ready for my device .How can this be so ? I think it just illustrates that microsoft have lost the plot and have no quality control or quality audit processes at all .Best advice I think is to refuse all updates until such time as they can confirm that an update is safe to use .

it is not ready for my device
That message has been discussed in a thread here.

Don't expect MS to say it's safe. Take precautions. Leave feature updates aside until at LEAST the first major update after its release is available. Even then, it's sometimes taken several updates to correct problems in a new build.

I've seen possible signs of more and more device and driver level incompatibilities apparently occuring after people upgrade to 2004 in some recent threads.

Check there's no warning message. Then if you wish to try upgrading... first create a disk image of all Windows partitions, and only then attempt the upgrade.

I believe we will see cumulative updates tomorrow? It's patch tuesday. If I were you I would at least wait and see until then, probably longer. There's quite a few issues with this update.

I'm a Windows 10 newbie but it's clear from what I've read in these forums and other sources that (1) there's no compelling reason for most users to update yet, (2) if MS advises that W10 2004 is not yet ready for your computer, then you would be wise to wait until it is, rather than force an update and (3) it would be prudent to defer installation of the feature update for a while in any event, in case further bugs are introduced. I plan to hold off for 3 months.

And (4), as is always recommended here, backup by creating an image with the software of your choice.

I had a further attempt to install yesterday, it again failed and rolled back. So still issues.

Failure to upgrade -presumably with an error code or message? - is quite different to new issues being experienced following a successful installation. Any build of Win 10 can fail to install on a given system and roll back for a wide variety of reasons.
