Fail to install 2004 upgrade

Hello,
I am still on windows version 1909! and windows update don't propose 2004 upgrade ,it says " you are up to date "
So I tried both " Media control tool 2004" and "Windows10upgrade9252" but at the end of all the process I always get this message "Installation program validation of product key failed"
I search solutions everywere and even bought a new windows 10 pro key, and replace it, with no difference!
I am connected with a microsoft account and it says " Windows is activated with a numeric licence coupled with your microsoft account "
I also tried with a new normal account! same end!
Can you help me to resolve this mess ?

Hi, there's no point trying to hit Windows Update with a hammer until it gives up and offers you a feature upgrade.

Paying lots of money for a Win 10 key (or probably very little for one that may not be vaild) won't help either.

a. MS has a roll-out plan as has been referred to many many times here - each feature upgrade is rolled out world-wide over 2-3 months, starting with systems deemed the least problematic.

b. MS does not offer feature upgrades to systems deemed incompatible.

Then consider there are bugs. Some feature updates have been relatively bug-ridden. 2004 has some that might affect some people. See the relevant articles in the News section here for 'Known and resolved issues'.

Then consider- it doesn't offer much new. Does using a PIN to log into Safe Mode excite you? How about some tweaks to file explorer search which MS pretty much wrecked initially in 1909?

Hang back. I'm using 1903 as you can see. It's stable and works, and file explorer search works as it should.

Patience. I've no idea how old your PC is as there's no data I can see to go on.

If you want to try to force an upgrade, download the iso manually, but I've read that if there is a hardware block in place that will still apply now.

** before upgrading, as ever, create a disk image- I hope you're using disk imaging routinely as is so, so often recommended here to give you a second chance. E.g. Macrium Reflect (free-paid).

Thank you for taking time for a long answer!
In matter of fact I don't care to have or not the last version, I am just an old man who wants to wake up and find everything in order and in place. to tell you the truth,with w7 I had disable windows update!
to come back to our matter , I did also a try with the iso and even without internet connection, no way!
I payed only 15€ for an OEM w10 pro at : Vip-scdkey.com! amazing
for information I use Acronis true image for a very long time already and backup on 3 different places
The interesting fact is that I used Media creation tool 2024 on 2 other Pc and a windows tablet, without probleme and with the same licence key!!!
my Pc is brand new ( see in my profile) I7 9700K and so on
So I will take your advice and be patient
Anyway thank you for your help

Ps: I don't use safe mode , image backup is much better

These are in no way comparable. They are two utterly different things.

Some people try to compare System Restore and image backups- slightly closer but again very very different.
