Device Driver Issue For v.2004 Update...

WU is stating that the v.2004 update is on hold for my system with the "The Windows 10 May 2020 Update is on its way. Once it’s ready for your device, you’ll see the update available on this page." message. The system has an NVIDIA GEForce 7300 LE graphics card installed with a 2015 driver (the latest available). I know this card is not supposedly supported under v.2004, and it wasn't supported under v.1903 & v.1909 either, but WU installed v.1903 with no issues. I guess the questions are, since MS isn't telling my why v..2004 isn't ready for my system, could it be the graphics card? The card came with the system originally (W7), and it's only used for web videos and some Photoshop work. Should I spring for a new graphics card or just wait until MS tells me what is amiss?

Well....that is likely to never happen.

I would wait until your system block is removed, and the upgrade is ready for your system.

I go by the list of Known Issues -

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...indows-10-2004

    There are several currently.

We're waiting until the list is a little shorter.

stay with either 1903 or 1909, jamis

the 2004 version does not work well with NVIDIA GEForce 7300 LE as nvidia has not made a newer graphics driver for that one.

simply wait a month or two for both MS & nvidia to resolve the 2004 compatibility problems with old nvidia geforce video hardware

the 2004 version does not work well with NVIDIA GEForce 7300 LE . it killed the windows and the start menu. the windows are not refreshing and just flickering. the startmenu is somehow transparent with white letters. same goes for the info-center on the right hand side. on windows 10 1909 everything was good so far. i have also an nvidia 7025 gpu onboard my asrock mainboard which has no 3D acceleration and youtube videos should be running in 480p than 720p or even 1080p otherwise the computer is working very slow BUT the start menu and all the errors i have mentioned before doesn't occur.

i am an update specialist so questions like "did you update" are unnecessary!

if this will be fixed i must say microsoft understood the users and what they want. this will never happen for sure.

I know this was marked as Solved with the July posting but for the new addition thought I'd add that I updated my GT 710 from Version 10 to a new Version 27 from nVidia GeForce and see no issues with it. But I'm fond of saying I'm not a gamer so may never see issues they do.

holy shit after a restart even the geforce 7025 became dizzy. now most of the bugs on 7300 LE also appears on 7250.

it would be a miracle if multibillionaire company would fix these. i mean i also have another pc with ati radeon x550 and everythink works fine so far there.

I did the FU to v.2004 today via WU after waiting many months for it to be available for my system. After the final restart, Settings pages were flickering and not displaying full pages. Also transparency for the system was not working correctly. I was able to fix the transparency issues and after about an hour, the flickering issues with the Settings pages went away. I later discovered that there was a lot going on after the final restart was done. The system is stable now and appears to be working as it should.
