Any important update apart 2004?

Hello, I installed Windows 10 in February with latest version available on Media Creation Tool, and since then, I always kept auto updates disabled, because my previous Windows 10 installation was screwed and I don't want it to happen again. So, I would like to just update every now and then with very important updates.
So, any important one apart the May update, 2004?

That is why time and again we recommend making regular system images - it takes just a few minutes to restore a system image should your Windows get broken. Macrium Reflect Free is used by many.

Each 2nd Tuesday of the month (aka 'Patch Tuesday') a cumulative update is issued containing the latest security patches. To be secure online, you should install it each month.

You should also make sure your Windows Security (aka Defender) AV definitions are up to date, these are typically updated daily.

Thank you for the advice. I followed that useful guide. The only thing I can't do is to add the Recovery Boot Menu to Windows, as suggested in part 2-7 of that guide. But maybe only Home version has that option.

The boot menu option is available in Macrium Reflect Free. But you should also make the usb (or CD) rescue media too, just in case you PC gets corrupted so badly that it cannot boot (and test that you can boot from it). You will only see the option to make a usb while a usb is plugged in.



If you can't make the boot menu, try clicking Advanced and make sure that 'Choose Base WIM' is set for Windows RE. Macrium should be able to use your own PC's recovery partition as the base with which to build the recovery media.

Thank you, I created the Boot Menu on Windows Boot, but tbh I thought it only would have appeared when I boot in Safe Mode. It's always present when I turn on PC. Yeah there is a 10 seconds countdown to make Windows 10 auto start, but it's still annoying :/

You can adjust the time; mine is set to 2 seconds.
