Change of message on Windows Update as regards 2004

    Hi there folks,

Having previously been encouraged to download 2004 update from within Windows update (and subsequent failures to install as detailed on an earlier thread) I now get the changed message on windows update,

"The Windows 10 May 2020 Update is on its way. Once it’s ready for your device, you’ll see the update available on this page"

So is this just a general message or has Microsoft somehow got feedback from maybe a log created during failed updates to V2004 on my computer and pushed out the changed message to me?

I somehow doubt it, but thought I would just ask here.

    Thanks a lot,
    Joe

A number of people are getting this message and have asked the same question. Just wait. Your PC isn't compatible in some way.

Feel free to search the forum for your error message to find similar posts that have already been answered.

I started a thread about the same "problem" a couple of days ago:
My PC was ready for 2004 update, but now it isn't anymore.

Not specifically your PC, but it would be due to reports from other machines with similar hardware and/or software.

Microsoft continually monitor the telemetry the get from attempted upgrades. If a new issue is discovered they will place a block on similar machines getting the upgrade until the issue is resolved.

Don`t ever use windows update to update to a new version. Use the ISO file method.

And wait another 4 months before attempting to install 2004 again.

There is no reason to install it yet.

There has also been a change in how Microsoft handles attempted forced installs of the ISO on a system that has a block.

It will now stop the install, tell you your PC is not ready, and gracefully exit the installer.
