    Now I need to permanently disable Airplane Mode. I guess Version update 2004 somehow revoked my prior disablement of it.
    This might help! => How to Turn On or Off Airplane Mode in Windows 10.

    Paul;

    Thank you very much for your information. I used regedit and see that HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\RadioManagement\SystemRadioState (default) is already set to 0 = off. I wonder if I should also set ABSliderPosition to 0. Maybe my Airplane Mode on/off jumping around is a hardware issue related to the slide switch on the edge of my laptop. But, I'm not seeing any error log entries whatsoever related to that slide switch.

    Dan...

    Is it possible that switch has been bumped or is slightly out of position?

    I assume you have slide to the OFF position and then quickly back to ON position.

    Being a physical switch any possibility wires may have been knock loose doing some sort of upgrade?

    I guess anything is possible. That said, I always check to make sure the slide switch is set to "on". As an aside, I have the BIOS setting for the switch to not control any communications facility (wifi, bluetooth, etc.). I have never cracked open the case on my laptop. I did a simple test to see if I had any loose wires or connectors by shaking it violently for a 30 seconds while it was still running. No problems or messages appeared and nothing was rattling around inside.

    Since this is a mechanical switch I'm wondering if the "Software" change in registry actually does anything.

    Lots of newer laptops have a "Virtual" switch like F11. I can see the registry change being able to override that.

    Being mechanical I'm not so sure. If you slide switch to off can you still communicate with the Internet? Actually navigate to a new page.

    Even with the Registry settings and the BIOS settings, when the slide switch is set to OFF Airplane Mode comes on and my wifi is turned off. Sliding the switch back to ON revokes Airplane Mode and my wifi comes back on. What good do the BIOS and Registry settings do?

    They are for the modern machines, the one where you can adjust through software.

    Most modern laptops use software switches.

    Both my older devices have mechanical switches. It makes sense, if I open a wire something electrical is disconnected.
