My PC was ready for 2004 update, but now it isn't anymore.

About a week ago i got the message, in windows update, that my pc was ready for the 2004 update and that i could download and install it. I didn't want to rush anything so i decided to wait until i got the time to do proper backups etc.
Today i checked in windows update and now i get the message that
"Windows 10 may update 2004 is on its way. Once it is ready for your device, the update will show on this page" (loosely translated from my language to english).

    Is this normal behaviour?
Or has something happened to my computer that rendered the pc "not ready" for the 2004 update?

MS has probably discovered an issue since the original notification that would cause an issue on your PC. When they develop a fix it will be offered to you again. Consider yourself lucky and wait until it gets fixed. Think of it as the update is not yet ready for your PC.

Indeed, consider yourself lucky. These major updates are not trustworthy.

I don't take the chance. They offer some risk, but no benefit. None.

    Beware.

    Thanks for your answers @SoFine409 and @margrave55;

I was hoping that this was what caused the update to be unavailable.

I allmost panicked last night and was affraid that something had gone wrong on my pc.

Glad that i didn't install the update as soon as it was available.
Once the update comes back i think that i'll give it a couple of weeks or more, before instaling it - just to make sure that most issues have been solved.

    Thanks again

Known and Resolved issues for Windows 10 May 2020 Update version 2004

I prefer to wait until at least the first update after a feature update, having checked the reports.

Which of these changes can you not live without?
What is new in the Windows 10 May 2020 Update version 2004

I have been reading a bit about the 2004 update here in the forums. Some people only install feature updates when they absolutely have to (i.e. end-of-life of previous version). Some people wait a couple of weeks or maybe a couple of months. Others install it as soon as it's available. Your method seems like a very prudent way to do it. I'll keep that in mind.

I wasn't going to install the update for at least another week or so.To be honest, none of the new features in 2004 are important or necessary for me. As long as there are no necessary security updates i guess i can live without 2004. At least for a while. I was just surprised to see that the update was suddenly unavailable, when it had been available for more than a week.

My feeling is that annual updates are all beta releases to be tested by millions of "volunteers".

    HI,
That's the way 10 has always been except 10 home users were most picked on now everyone is.

I dropped off the insiders nonsense years ago.

Exactly the same thing happened on my PC yesterday. Its been ready and available to install for about three weeks but I decided to wait a month or so before installing it. The message in Windows Update has changed and its now not ready for my device at the moment
