I would be more than happy if my Windows 10 said..."Windows 10 may update 2004 is on its way. Once it is ready for your device, the update will show on this page". Mine still says...Download and Install... despite all the problems with trying to install... I'm Definitely NOT Impressed. Windows 2004 will not install.
At least I would have some confidence that MS knows how to sort their mess.
IMO i think that MS should have at least written that they have discovered some issues that they will try to fix instead of the update going from available to unavailable.
Regarding my question:
The consensus seems to be that MS has encountered issues between the 2004 update systems like mine, and they're witholding the update until the bugs are ironed out.
It puts my mind at ease that it's not my pc that suddenly broke down and became unworthy of the 2004 update but that the problem is that MS has released the update prematurely. I'm glad that i didn't install the update and unwillingly got "upgraded" to software-tester for MS. I'll take the advice to wait a couple of weeks, or perhaps months, before installing it.

Microsoft's problem is due, mainly, to the success of the operating system, they designed it to work with as much variation of hardware as possible. This is more compounded by the fact that We, the users, (and the manufacturers) tend to mix and match the components used, even after the system is built and sold.
Sometimes even when all the individual components used in a system are compatible, the particular mix of components have issues as a group, there is also the hardware driver problem as discussed in an earlier post here, which Microsoft has no control over in reality.
Windows is still the biggest OS in use world wide possibly because it works most of the time on most of the hardware it's asked to

MS may force updates ... unless you take measures to stop the updates. That's what I do.As for losing support ... well, I never had any support from MS. None.
I've had computers since the mid 90s, and I've had problems. Dell provided support in some cases. I provided my own support in others.
But MS has never provided any support. It's in the license agreement.
MS only provides support for RETAIL PURCHASES of Windows.
But most of us get Windows from the PC OEM. In that case the license says that the OEM provide support ... such as it is.
And that generally lasts only a year, unless you buy an extension.
That was what i was getting before. I think. I am not sure about the "making sure..." was worded like that in Danish.
Now i get this (in Danish):
Perhaps any 'known issues' for your device are minor, so it's not being recommended but you are free to try it if you would like?
I get a similar wording on a 1909 device that MS thinks is ready for 2004, but without the "We're making sure it's ready for your device...." part.
