That didn't take long! Although one week seems like forever to MS, I guess.
Glad you like it. It helps when you have a use for these things.
Mine is still sitting patiently in the Start Menu.
    Good Boy!

Care to share the script? Will it work for Edge as well?

    Unlikely, as it isn't needed. Chromium Edge doesn't have Google's ...\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\SwReporter\83.238.200\swreporter.exe

Both systems on metered connection settings (soft setting - not registry edit), it downloaded and installed in the background - no warning.
If I recall correctly, I have told you that it does not work without a Registry hack.

    Try:

Block the automatic installation of the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge through Windows Update and keep the old version of the browser. Personally I don't have Edge (any version) but did once install Canary Edge for testing.

    Microsoft Edge Chromium Blocker Toolkit:

    Correct.
I did the hack and the beast is tame.
    Thanks for the tip.

My topic refers to: No Choice.
You are getting this thing whether you want it or not.
It counters the MS description of a "Standalone App".

The Metered Connection comment has turned into a red herring. Apologies.

The old Edge was a part of Windows 10 from the start and has been a built in app in every RTM version from 1507 up to 2004. The new Chromium Edge will replace it in version 2009 onwards. MS would no doubt wonder why anyone would object to getting Edge updated a few months earlier than the rest of the OS.

And even if you're running 1809, it's a free surprise update of MS Credge. Mine happened last week.

You don't even need to be running Windows 10 to qualify for that 'free surprise'.....

The choice "No, thanks" is available at my end. See the above screenshot.

Does "counters" mean "does not fit" above?
