Try:
Block the automatic installation of the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge through Windows Update and keep the old version of the browser. Personally I don't have Edge (any version) but did once install Canary Edge for testing.

The old Edge was a part of Windows 10 from the start and has been a built in app in every RTM version from 1507 up to 2004. The new Chromium Edge will replace it in version 2009 onwards. MS would no doubt wonder why anyone would object to getting Edge updated a few months earlier than the rest of the OS.
And even if you're running 1809, it's a free surprise update of MS Credge. Mine happened last week.![]()
