    What does Chromium based mean?
That it is a Google Chrome browser? Or something else like using chrome code?

Chromium is an open source project. Chrome is based on it, in fact Google started the Chromium project. So is the new Edge....

Chromium is an open-source browser project that aims to build a safer, faster, and more stable way for all Internet users to experience the web.

...there are many other chromium browsers.

ZDNet has compiled a list of all the internet browsers that have been based on Chromium, the open-source browser project at the heart of Google Chrome. While initially we thought we'd find 15-20 browsers, the number of Chromium-based browsers was far larger than we expected.

    Thanks Bree. Good info.
I now know more stuff. Can't remember most of it, but at least it's now in the jumble!

    BTW
The old Edge Start Menu item disappeared after restart. Just new Edge now.
And New Coke Edge can't be uninstalled in Windows. So the bit about it being a standalone product is a possible falsehood.
Now that the desktop icon and taskbar icon have been deleted it can be safely ignored just like Old Edge.

5 ways to fix common problems with Microsoft Edge Chromium | Windows Central
    - suggests it can- towards the bottom. Is that article wrong- or perhaps out of date as things have moved on? Thanks.

I did it the dumb way.
Went to Control Panel > Programs and Features and looked for New Edge. Not listed.
Went to "Turn Windows Features On or OFF" > not list there either.
CCLeaner > Programs - not listed.
Start Menu > Edge > no uninstall option.

Probably could do it with 3rd party tool or downloading something from MS, but that's not the point.

    EDIT
But, yes you are right. There is an uninstall feature. (In the part of Windows Settings I never look!)

Phew! Strange it's not listed in the CP as I think it's not a universal app from something I've read, but hey, the CP is somewhat out of fashion..

    Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Microsoft Edge > Uninstall

The uninstall button in Apps & Features is greyed out on my PC. When I select modify, nothing happens. I'm using 1809 Home that has some GP settings with Policy Plus and a few registry tweaks. Any thought?

I disabled two MS Edge related settings in the Task Scheduler. I rarely use Edge, if that changes I might reset them, just not to repeat hourly. :-/

MicrosoftEdgeUpdateTaskMachineCore was set to run daily and at logon of any user.

MicrosoftEdgeUpdateTaskMachineUA was set to run daily and repeat hourly for one day.
