Sneaky way to say...

I have an older system with W10 1909, that according to MS is not ready for 2004 yet:



Since I am not making any changes to this system, does that mean the 2004 will never get to it?

I guess, this message can be interpreted a number of different ways...

Oh, yes. This has been discussed a few times already on other forums.

What they really should be saying is: "Windows 10 2004 isn't quite ready for your device but we'll let you know when it is".

If your device is the "problem" then surely they would let you know what needs to done to make your device "ready"?

Typical MS "marketing speak".

Yup...I had that message then a week or so later I got 2004.

And I've just got to ask.... what changed in your system so that is suddenly became ready for the update? IMHO Microsoft is completely blowing smoke. It's not that YOUR system is not ready for the update at all. It's that Microsoft's update is not ready for your system. I'll bet you didn't do a darn thing to YOUR system to make it ready for the update. I'll bet YOUR system didn't change at all! And yet, magically. now a couple of weeks or months later YOUR system is now ready for the update? I call bovine excrement.

You're corect...I didn't change anything. I think MS changed something...like took my problem off their block list. Maybe they fixed something or maybe there was a false positive that was discovered. Who really knows...

I had that notification on my new laptop two weeks ago. I never really did anything to my computer except some windows/driver updates. Then the notice went away. However, I still haven't received Windows 10 2004. My guess is similar to what @NavyLCDR said

I believe the laptop/desktop manufacturer is not set for the new Windows 10 version. HP has a website to test if there HP computer is ready for a specific Windows 10 version. They haven't updated their list to include Windows 10 2004. If and when they do test it on their HP Laptops/Desktops, then maybe the Download/Installation would appear.

I had a SLEW of driver updates and such, in a pack, that happened one day. I updated and the 2004 Update was right behind it.

It's not sneaky. It's poorly AF written prose.
