I'm Definitely NOT Impressed. Windows 2004 will not install.

Yesterday Windows Update presented 2004 for the first time. I tried the following...

(1) Several attempts to install via standard WU. All failed with a variety of error codes.
(2) Tried the Windows Update Assistant. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/soft...load/windows10
Again failed.
(3) Tried the Media Creation Tool from the above link. Again failed.
All attempts complete the installation phase then roll back at the Restart.

The error codes varied...
Not enough space. Hardly as I have 73GB free on C.
Incompatible files, but what files.
Driver problem, but what driver.

Also strange; post rollback I had a new phantom F drive, FAT formatted, that appeared on "This PC" display and only disappeared when I deleted the downloaded update files.

What a mess. I'll wait for MSoft to clean up their act.

Ensure all external USB devices - especially hard drives - are disconnected apart from mouse & keyboard. Remove any SD cards. Disable any third party anti virus software. Disable any auto sleep function for the PC.
Then try again.

All of that was in place during my multiple, failed, attempts.

Sorry, not interested in a clean install at this time given the work involved in reinstalling 100+ apps, drivers, settings. MSoft need to fix this mess.

I am very experienced with Acronis True Image and there you lose me. Restoring an image of 1909 on top of 2004 would result in 1909. Confused!

I just ran...

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
sfc /scannow

...and both are 100% clean.

100+ apps ... issues could be any.
Disk space is usually the biggest killjoy since it needs to make a restore point of everything connected and space on C must be well more than enough.
