I'm showing a message that my system is not ready for the 2004 update (has to be software as I dual boot with the Insider versions and have the current version). It shows a click to link to "Learn More". I clicked on the link and there's a lot of info listed but nothing to say what my specific system problem is. The "learn more" is useless. Since it detected an issue it should list what the issue is.
Probably unlikely MS will indicate precise information, unfortunately. Could be (as far as they are concerned) one of a whole raft of issues.

Any manual installation of Win 10 would bypass that, so might depend how you installed your Insider build, plus maybe a comparable check does not apply on such builds.
You can of course review any known and resolved issues, but these may well be a subset of whatever MS holds in some database given the huge range of possible conflicts.
That`s OK, you don`t need the update yet, stay with what you got.
You can always update using the ISO file method, but give it 3 or 4 or 5 months

I updated my Dell laptop without a problem. I tried manually updating my desktop and it gets to 70% then reverts back. I've done the DISM and SFC/Scannow and it doesn't find anything. I would like to know what I have wrong. I know what all the 2004 is since I have the insider version. My system is working OK, just bugs me that there is some unknown problem and I've never had a problem with an update before.
Unfortunately you may be familiar with the lengthy extended threads run by zbook on feature update failures, often without success despite great attention to the content of log files etc.
All it takes is one driver that can't be migrated, for example. If you want to investigate that, there's a section in the tutorial on upgrading to Win 10 that includes links to relevant pages about error messages and log files etc.
I've been through the drivers. That was one of the first things I checked.
The statement I don't have to do anything and that they will resolve whatever it is
sounds like the update doesn't account for something in my PC. Just goes back to my curiosity of what it is, since they apparently do.
See the threads by zbook and the approaches there.
Review the relevant log files.
Research error messages and error numbers (some are usually in the log files).
Try running
setupdiag.exe
from MS (just Google it) - promises much, but usually delivers little.

The best solution of this problem is wait for some time until Microsoft fixes the incompatibility issue between your computer hardware and Windows 10 feature update. Many Windows 10 users report to Microsoft about incompatibility issues and Microsoft keeps fixing those issues regularly.
Once Microsoft fixes the issue, the error message will automatically disappear from Windows Update page and you'll see "The next version of Windows is available with new features and security improvements" message on Windows Update page with a button/link "Download and install now" to manually start the upgrade whenever you are ready.
It could be a driver issue or a third party program that isn't compatible with new 2004 update
or a number of other issues
I think it's best to wait until they fix it and not risk possible problems with BSOD issues
In my case I doubt drivers as I have checked them all and Windows reports best driver installed. I also dual boot with the Insider and use the same drivers and there is no problem with the Insider installs, and I'm on the latest fast ring version.
I suspect some software/configuration issue, especially with the statement that "there is nothing I need to do".
