None of my Web Broswers are working since the Aug10 Windows 10 updates

I upgraded to Windows10 Pro 32bit from Windows7Pro 32 bit early in August and that went pretty well. The only program I had to uninstall/reinstall was BitDefender as I suppose the way Anti-virus programs work in Win10 is different, but there were instructions on the BitDefender website on how to do it. However after the Aug 10 Windows 10 updates I have not been able to make ANY of the web browsers work Chrome (my default), MS Edge or IE. I tried both wired and wireless connections and while the computer told me I had connections to the internet none of the browsers worked. I kept getting messages that they could not reach any of the websites I tried. I uninstalled the three Windows 10 updates from Aug 10 and rebooted and still could not get any browser to work. I went online from another computer and found fixes from 2013 for browsers not working in Windows 7 - I didn't think they would work and they didn't but I had to try anyway and could not find anything for Windows 10.

In the end I went back to Windows 7 and my browsers started working again. UPDATE - actually only Chrome is working again. If I try IE it freezes my computer - I assume when I did the upgrade to W10 MS changed it so that it no longer works with W7. I will remove it and reinstall. I really don't use it that much but some commercial websites I use (specifically utility companies) - only design their websites to work with IE so I get some weird results if I try to use Chrome. I figure that may be the same with Edge which is why W10 has both.
UPDATE2 - can't uninstall IE as it does not appear in list of programs. If I start the IE 11 setup program it won't run because it says it detected a newer version already installed. This really ticks me off.
UPDATE3 - Can't download anything from Chrome now. Something happened to how Privacy is determined so Chrome will not allow me to download anything. Well, this was the last 32 bit computer I owned and its 6 years old - I wanted to use it for another year, but in order to use it properly as a Win7 machine I would have to reinstall everything from scratch which isn't worth it to me, so I'll upgrade it again to Windows 10 and try to figure out why the browsers don't work, I guess the first thing I will do is remove all 3rd party software and see what happens, starting with BitDefender.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with their upgrade to Windows 10? I will probably make another attempt after the next Windows 10 update - I am using an older spare computer to test whether the Windows 10 upgrade will work or not so I'm glad I did not do this on my regular computer. But I have not yet found anything about browsers not working on Windows 10 when I google it.

FINAL UPDATE - problem was with Bitdefender Total Security 2015. After going to the BD forums I found several people had the same issue. To fix it you needed to uncheck the Block Internet Sharing option in the Firewall. While that seemed to have no problem with Win 7, it caused a problem in Win 10. First though, I had to reinstall Win 10. I would not recommend rolling back to Win 7 from Win 10 since a lot of programs did not work properly and you have to reinstall them from media since I could not download after the rollback.

    Hi

I had a very similar problem to yourself, my antivirus Software (which I have since removed) in favour of Windows Defender, went and Installed a Copy of Google Chrome, while I wasn't looking!

At which point I ran into all sorts of problems, especially getting its files off my Computer.

Having now managed to do that, the one and only Browser that I use is Edge, which is absolutely 'Lightning Fast!' and then have a Shortcut to 'Google and Yahoo'

I know that's not for everyone but it works fine for me and I for one will never go back to using Windows 7.

As for the Updates for Windows 10 you don't want to take them off you want all of them on, or else you could have more 'Glitches' than you know what to do with.

Well, I didn't have any problems with my browsers after the initial Windows 10 install. It wasn't until I installed the windows 10 updates on August 10 that my browsers stopped working.

As for Windows Defender, unless they changed that in Windows 10 that is only an anti-spyware program, Not an Anti-Virus. And it NEVER spotted any malware when I had it running with just an Anti-Virus. Not compared to Malwarebytes or Super Anti-spyware. Basically since it came with windows all the malware programmers designed their programs so that Windows Defender would not be able to identify them as malware. I used to use Norton and when I started getting malware that was trying to emulate Norton messages, I changed to Avast. After using that for a few years I began to have the same problem with Avast - I was getting malware messages trying to emulate Avast. I switched briefly to Kaspersky but since its HQ in Moscow, I'd rather not have Putin being able to access my computer so I switched last year to BitDefender.

Yes I noticed that MS Edge is pretty fast, but its a brand new browser so the website and malware programmers have not yet had enough time to add spyware and add-ins to work with it yet. I used to use IE for many many years until the amount of spyware and other malware that kept popping up got to the point where I was fed up and switched to Chrome a few years ago. I figured I would have to switch again in a few years, but then MS came out with Edge so I figure everyone will concentrate on that for now. Generally I like to pick less popular apps since fewer people will bother designing malware for it.

I really don't know why my browsers didn't work after the Aug 10 Win10 updates but I figure it will take time for both MS and other software companies to figure out how their programs will work together and the free upgrade last until July of next year so I still have time.
