    Stop Updates Win10MAN or WAU?

OK, I am on Windows 10 PRO 1909. I see that WAU just had an update to 2.5 and see that it does not actually install. I like that. WU10MAN has a Portable version but not much is said there. WAU looks better, I guess, but wonder what users on the FORUM think.

    Thank You as always...

Hi, you have Win 10 Pro.. so natively you can
    - defer feature updates to 365 days
    - set updates to Notify in group policy, so they are only applied if you aprove them

Thus you are almost never going to be interrupted by any sort of unexpected update.

What is it you wish to achieve? What features are you looking for?
Do you have some sort of incompatibility you need to deal with in a particular way?

Or do you simply want to take control?

I do want to take control as I have seen that an update is bad and then MS fixes it or pulls it. I am also tired of it telling us that there is an update in the middle of us doing something, not to mention not getting the major update being released soon...but that is another reason to wait for MS to release fixes to that!

WAU Manager just disables Windows Update Service and lets you choose which updates to install when you run the program.

It does not stop forced upgrades.

So, I did the Group Policy change in the tutorial and I assume that it will not notify me or download. However, if I manually do a check will it show me that there is an update and let me install it?

I have told you you can do that natively with Pro. I use Pro's features, and only receive updates when I choose.

But feel free to use Sledgehammer.

And thank you for your reply.

The following scripts will notify you of available updates. You don't have to manually do a check.

Well, I did do the update and it did say that the last time I updated it was February 20 so I guess my previous gpedit did work. Now I am up to date on Windows and Office and will not update again for a few months after the big end of May update is out!

Surely you WANT forced updates don't you for security updates which are usually critical.

Well, I only want them when I have done an IMAGE backup so I can go back if needed.
