    Windows 2004 update question

I recently installed the windows 10 2004 update from an iso, I was wondering what will happen when this update gets released officially?

will my PC receive the latest updates as normal due to me installing it early , Should I turn on windows insider to move to the official release?

what are the best settings for windows insider program if that needs to be turned on?

    Welcome to Ten Forums carlfish.

If as a non-insider you installed a release preview iso of 2004 (build 19041.207 or 19041.208) then by now you should have had a cumulative update to 19041.264 (KB4556803).

No, you don't need to join the Insider program to rejoin the publicly release channel for 2004. In fact, an Insider who has the Release Preview of 2004 and wants to go back to the public channel should just leave Insiders and wait for the public build to catch up with theirs.

There will almost certainly be another cumulative update on the day 2004 is officially released. When you get that you'll know you are back on the normal retail release.

The strong rumour is that 2004 will be officially released on Thursday 28th May. Whenever it is released, there will very likely be a cumulative update on the same day with the last minute patches in it. This has been the case for all previous Feature Updates.

After that, expect a monthly cumulative update on the second Tuesday of the month, known as 'Patch Tuesday'.
