    Pause updates for 7 Days

What does that really mean. Does it pause all updates or does it allow security update / Defender type of updates thru and only restricts ie 'FU & CU' ?

Pause updates - as far as I know - pauses all updates to windows, with the exception of windows defender definitions
    Please see this
Enable or Disable Pause Updates Feature in Windows 10
Although basically Brink`s tutorial on the pausing, there is a wealth of information on the posts to the tutorial.

I think you should also look at the advanced settings on my screenshot, feature updates and quality updates, as these are deferments, separately to the PAUSE, which as I said is ALL - more or less.
Whereas Defer is for only the Feature and Quality.

Please also see Brink`s Tutorial on that subject

I have WU paused for the max. time, but Defender updates have come through during the pause period with no issues. Of course, I’m not using WD on the system. An Adobe update came in also. I’m trying to postpone the version update coming in so late May, so I’m going into WU every couple of days to push the pause back into late June.

Macboatmaster - Thankyou That is what I figured it would do. I just paused it, it says it will resume on May 30th. I guess I can do it again and again ?

Thanks again - Marked as solved.

I just discovered something I don’t quite understand. If I go to the WU settings page and use the Pause Updates for 7 days button, the pause date will indeed advance 7 days. If you then go to the Advanced Options page you can further advance the pause date for five more days. Return to the WU page and you can advance that date by another 7 days. It seems that you can cycle through this sequence for quite some time. Right now, my system is paused until 08/16/2020. I thought there was a 35 day limit on pausing updates on Home systems.
Or, you can just keep pausing for 7 days repeatedly until you have reached a date comfortable for you. Apologies, I always just assumed you only had one shot at the pause days.
