Thought as much. If it looks too good to be true...

OfficeWorks price is basically the same as Microsoft. Is there anything wrong with me purchasing from the Computeractive site that Bastet referred to before? Though how do I know if that is real?

How do I know that anything is real???

    Spiralling into existential distress.
Computeractive is a very reliable computer magazine in the UK - I subscribe - & their store often has offers like this.
It’s the English version so hopefully it’ll be International English & that you’ll be able to set it up with Aus English.
They have payment options in AUD so they obviously sell to non UK buyers.
I would contact their support if you wish to double check.

The very first thing to do would be to create a Windows 10 installation USB flash drive using Microsoft's media creation tool:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...d/windows10ISO

Boot the computer from it and see if it asks for a product key. If it does not ask for a product key at all, then it has used the product key stored in UEFI (BIOS) and you will be good to go.

Hi everyone, I thought I would pop back and give an update on our adventures in Windows Licence-land.

I delayed doing anything as my son has been using the computer for online school up until yesterday and I was nervous about encountering problems with a clean install, especially if the BIOS started talking to me in Chinese. But he is back at school next week

This morning I backed everything up and I got ready for the clean install but realised I don't have our Office product key with us (it is not physically stuck to the laptop). In the end I purchased a Windows 10 pro licence and only updated the product key. I may still do the clean install once we get back to China and can look at the documentation.

This was probably not the optimal approach, but it was certainly the easiest for now. I will still make a report to Microsoft but without any documentation, I don't see any way we could get a refund as we would have paid from our Chinese bank account.

Thanks again to those who helped!
