Yaay! Thank you SO much for several things to try. First I'll read over the Activation Troubleshooter link. Regardless if anything in there works for this, it will be good education

Then I Searched on Clean Install in Chrome and found this link and it seems to be great education! New SSD, Clean Install or Clone Disk or Migrate Windows OS?

So I'm learning more all the time.

Backing away from the task for a few days plus you coming back to me with more help here in W10F gave me renewed wind to go at it again. For a couple of days I was feeling as though I would never have the smarts (or gumption) to do something about this with the tools at hand. (You might have guessed that going out to spend more money was not an option, although buying even a refurbished business laptop with the right ports was something I was dreaming of...)

We are putting on a roof in a remote location and leaving in a few days to do that, so I may not get the job of opening the laptop and putting in the new SSD (& RAM) before I leave town. Completely off the grid in that other location. So if I don't communicate for up to 10 days, I'm not being rude.

    Bless you and many thanks!

No problem.... with god's grace I'll still be here.

Roofing. Now there is a job. Did one roof in my twenties to help a scout camp. Hot, heavy work.

    Good luck.

Still Here, Will Eventually Attack the Clean Install

Greetings Ken. Wanted you to know I haven't forgotten this. The roof project is wearing on. Plus the garden. Plus the yard. Lots of tasks and not enough me. But the weather will turn and I'll be inside a lot more and then I'm going to do this! Hope this finds you Aokay.
