    Hi,
My laptop also has this problem.
However I do not have the KB3081424 to uninstall.
I have tried using the standalone installer without success.

    Any help greatly appreciated.
Same here on one of my installs yesterday... searching for a fix myself

Tried most things to fix this, nothing worked.

So did a Repair Install and now PC is up to date on Windows Update.

hey i was wondering if we could turn off auto update under services.exe?
or is microsoft one step ahead of the crowd?

also is there a way to delete all updates like one could in older windows versions to get updates working again?

ADDITIONAL SUGGESTION THAT WORKED FOR ME!!!! I was as frustrated as everyone here. I followed everything but my service was already running but starting manually. I clicked "RESTART" and the service was restarted but now it says starts "AUTOMATICALLY(DELAYED START)" . Regardless, I went back to updates and clicked "Check For Updates" and everything went through immediately. Solved my problem!

After All That I Had 1 More Error-This fixed that

    Run the DISM tool

    • Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Search.)
    • Enter command prompt in the search box.
    • In the list of results, swipe down on or right-click Command Prompt, and then tap or click Run as administrator.
    • In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, enter the following commands. Press the Enter key after each command:
      DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
      DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
    • To close the Administrator: Command prompt window, type Exit, and then press Enter.
    • Run Windows Update again.
