How to recover w7 key from w7 installed OS

    Hello.

I am going to migrate a w7 laptop to w10. The COA sticker is totally worn out. How can I recover the w7 from the system?.

Users can retrieve it by issuing a command from the command prompt.

    • Press Windows key + X.
    • Click Command Prompt (Admin)
    • At the command prompt, type: wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey. This will reveal the product key. Volume License Product Key Activation.

Once you have succesfully migrated to Win 10 it should become irrelevant.

W10 installation says the key copied from Showkeyplus is invalid.

In the interim I am going to try Belarc Advisor, but I recall running it on my main pc alongside Superfly tool and they both showed the same key. I also tried the wmic command but it is saying "alias not found". I am not sure what to put as path.

    Windows 7 & Windows 8

    • Search and open Regedit via the Search function in Windows 7 or 8.
    • In the left pane of the Registry Editor, navigate to the following directory: Windows 7. ...
    • Right-click on the entry named ProductId and select Modify.
    • The product key will be displayed in a new window.

Is it an slp key? Might be easier to do the gatherosstate.exe dance.

I think it must be an OEM key. Superfly's ShowKeyPlus said something about a key marker embedded in firmware.
