If ver.1909 is present should I not allow a 1908 Cumulative pending?

Windows 10 tablet. Looks like it has downloaded 1909 successfully and is installing it as I type. I see there is a 2020-02 Cumulative Update Pending for 1908.

Would downloading this 1908 update undo settings that the 1909 version has worked?

    Thanks so much! jack ":-}

Hi Jack, my name is (john doe), I'm an independent adviser and a Windows 10 user like you.

I would let the current 1909 update finish installing and most likely a reboot will be necessary anyway.

Following this you may find that the older update has gone or been replaced with a different update.

I honestly wouldn't worry since Windows 10 will only download and install the updates it needs and not just blindly install any update just because it's there.

If 1909 already includes the fixes that are in the 1908 update, then it will no longer be necessary to install this. If there is something there that is still needed, then it might still install it, but it won't undo anything from 1909 update, it will only change what hasn't been changed already.

Let me know if you need any more help.

There is no such thing as 1908 to my knowledge, 1903 yes.

After system reboots any unnecessary updates will not be installed.

Can you do a screen grab and post. Watch you don't pick up any personal information in screen grab.

You can grab a screen shot with snipping tool and the paste in response with crtl-V

I became dyslexic there for a moment. Yes, 1809 is on this tablet. So where on another post is said that I should do a Clean Install. I've done that on a PC but never on a tablet. I would have thought a factory reset would have been productive but apparently this MVP or whatever on another post says it's usually not enough. Thing is . .

    The reset when swimmingly.
It did some updates just great!
I saw the recommendation that I do the 1909 upgrade.
    It downloaded fine.
I believe it was on the install it might have detected that storage was scarce "but here, you have an SD" . . . I agreed and it went on. Other that a window that said insert the SD one the auto restart (fix: I forced shut down and reboot which came out fine)

I guess I have to investigate how one does a Clean install of Windows on this tablet. Do you think there might be a partition already in the tablet for a Clean Install of Windows?

To be honest I've never clean install a tablet.

I don't think the process is that much different than a PC.

There are lots of members here with Surface tablets. Certainly would help if you stated make / model of your tablet.

If you open Disk management do you have a recovery partition? No doubt you can do a complete reset from Recovery.

If 1909 is installed and it updated the recovery partition that would be ideal.
