It is a matter that is treated seriously in many articles on the well-known sites that publish them- in just the same way as any signficant update or upgrade-related matter.
I followed these steps and it seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the link! I made some image backups and then moved the files to a backup drive and rebooted my pc no problem. Just to be on the safe side I delayed updates for another week. Now I know I'll download the latest versions. Cheers.
You can also let Windows clean out the old left over files from updates (mostly previous ones)
In Windows/File Explorer, right-click on C:\ drive > Properties > Disk Cleanup > Cleanup system files.
I've never had any trouble by selecting every option, then > OK
May take a little while, depending on when, or how often, it was done.
