Win 10. Delete downloaded updates that have not yet been installed?

I’m on Win 10 Home (HP Pavilion) and a week ago my system downloaded the latest updates. I saw this and set the delay for 2 weeks. So I’ve downloaded the latest updates but delayed their install. I’ve researched and (as usual) people are having serious problems with the updates. Now I want to get rid of the updates that were downloaded cuz they may trash my pc. How can I get rid of these updates? I want to wait a while before downloading and installing this latest batch of updates. How to delete the updates that were downloaded but not yet installed? Thanks.

First off don't believe all the noise posted about updates cause there can be a number of reasons why issues arise and not all are attributed to an update per se. Example many people tweak their systems to the point of living on the edge.. an update comes along and humpty dumpty you're over the edge.

As for removing any previously installed updates see this - Uninstall Windows Update in Windows 10

As for removing downloaded updates not yet installed, you might try Disk Cleanup then choose "Cleanup system files" - Open and Use Disk Cleanup in Windows 10

    Good luck.

Cool. Thanks. I'll try this. Does deleting all these files create any problems? Thanks.

Hi, shouldn't- it's part of a tutorial too 'Reset Windows Update'.

If you want more control of updates in Home there are some good 3rd party options e.g.
Enable or Disable Windows Update Automatic Updates in Windows 10
    Option 7

OK, thanks! I want to give Microsoft time to fix the buggy updates. After I delete the current update files, how long do you recommend I wait before downloading the newer update files?

I don't want a buggy update file to trash my pc.

(before I update, I promise to make multiple full images of my system disk using 2 different imaging apps)

Not sure to which 'buggy updates' you are referring. 1909 has problems with file explorer search- tried that and reverted to 1903 where I'm staying until there's news.

MS fixing things? How long's a piece of string? Keep an eye on the news- in the News section there's a thread per build per update with problems/solutions/comments.

Win10 version 1909 File Explorer search box still buggy — but less so @ AskWoody

My approach with Pro is to set updates to Notify- usually I accept updates as offered once a major build is stable - and defer upgrades for 365 days. That way I choose when to apply updates.

With Home, control is possible with one of the free utilities e.g. the one I mentioned, Sledgehammer, WUmgr...

You continue to push this as though 90 percent of 1909 users have search issues when in fact that's far from true. I myself have no search issues and have been running the 19090 update since release. I'm not the only one.

There's also no huge thread in any of the the forums here to support a widespread claim. Do some have search issues? Yes. But some also have other issues others don't have and they all aren't even running the 1909 update.

Point? No matter the OS or update some are going to have issues. It's the nature of the beast.

    Thank you for your criticism.

    Try Google.

And support for syntax (blue highlighting) was lost too. (Someone said it was back- I don't know).

Lots of articles on the net.

Point is, MS changed it, and added problems. I've yet to see anyone say they've all been fixed, although some attempt has been made in an update.

There is discussion on this here and there are threads in tenforums started by users on this. Guess you've not encountered them yet.

As I've said in the past... you can find any issue in the world posted to Google. Doesn't mean they apply to everyone. With that I stand by my statement. And I already said, yes, some do have the issue. Still doesn't make it a majority one.

    Thanks.
