Windows 10 update error 0x80070006 and no graphics drivers

The origin of my issue is that when i came to update my graphics drivers, i had to uninstall them first for the update to work, so i did so, but when the update started installing, it errored saying that my windows 10 was out of date.

When i went into the windows 10 update page in the settings it originally gave me the error code "0x80070424", but i managed to fix that by reinstalling the Windows update service which was previously missing, but then that left me with the error code in question - "0x80070006".

I've tried all of the common solutions that i found by googling the error code, but none of them seemed to work.

I'm not too fussed if i can't update my windows, but i my games are now running at 4fps in the main page as i don't have any graphics drivers, so if there is any way to install these without updating windows i would be very grateful. (I have an Rx 570)

    Thanks for any help

Hi pacifex. Welcome to the TenForums @pacifex

First I would head to AMD's website and get the latest driver for your RX 570.

If Windows is running use DDU to completely uninstall everything related to your video driver.

Official Display Driver Uninstaller DDU Download

Then re-install your video driver from the file you previously downloaded.

Not sure how your Windows update service would have become so corrupt you had to re-install. I might even run an inplace repair of Windows (act as an upgrade if boot media is at a higher level than currently install version.)

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
