    Win 10 updates

    Hi,

I just updated to Win 10 after Win 7 support ended.

Thus, I am wondering if possible for the updates to be checked first but not downloaded.

Dont want the updates to be downloaded automatically as I am unsure if the updates would cause any issue.

    Thanks.

    Welcome to TenForums!

Yes, you have the ability to defer feature and quality updates in Windows 10 for a period of time. Please see these tutorials for details:

    Hi, thanks for the link.

Hopefully I able to find out which updates useful before the updates cause more issues...

Do you have Home or Pro or...?
Windows Update - Defer Feature and Quality Updates in Windows 10
    says
This tutorial will show you how to choose when feature and quality updates are installed for your Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, or Education edition PC.
so may not be relevant to you.

This-ignore the title- presents one of several 3rd party utilties aimed at giving users much more control than Windows own update options, esp. for Home.
Enable or Disable Windows Update Automatic Updates in Windows 10

    - see Option 7.

Note 'Sledgehammer' (free) is another such utility.

If you have Pro upwards you can set updates to Notify you in Group Policy, so when you act on them is your decision.

Why not post the direct link to Option 7: Enable or Disable Windows Update Automatic Updates in Windows 10

    Thank you for your suggestion.

Have you ever heard of the proverb 'Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime."?

Why do all the work for people?

Do you think a poorly-educated Chinese guy has heard of such a profound English proverb?

It's also worth looking at a tool like David Xanatos Windows Update Manager (aka wumgr). You can just set it to check to see what's available, without downloading or installing anything. Might be helpful to the OP, too. I'll leave the fishing to the real pros.
