Win 10 Pro: Retail vs upgrading from win 7 Pro license

I'll be installing win 10 Pro to a test machine in the next weeks. Is there a 'version difference' in buying the retail version as opposed to "trading in" a win 7 pro license?
I guess my question really is, does buying the retail version translate to more control over Win 10 options as pertain to privacy and updates? Any other differences?

    Thanks.

Hi, there is no difference in what you get. Just Pro.

In general, you can upgrade from Win 7 Pro, or you can clean install Win 10 and activate it using a valid Win 7 license. There can be a complication if there's a key embeddded in the BIOS.

And there can be a complication with activating a clean install of Windows 10 with a Windows 7 product key if that product key has been blocked from automatic online activation.

    Hi,
Only difference is OEM or Retail
    10-7 pro are the same.
Retail can be moved to another machine with only one active activation.
OEM like dell/... are locked to the machine it came with
Another is system builders oem it also is locked to the mother board it was originally installed on.
