System updated even though updates paused for 7 days

I found my system had been rebooted due to a Definition Update, for Windows Defender Antivirus (which I do not even use!), despite the fact that I had updates paused until 1/14/20.

So when is an "update not an update? How do I stop all updates?

Thanks. I'll have to study the script and procedure in this link.

FYI: That's been replaced by SledgeHammer:

    Giving up on WIN10 Home

Download Sledgehammer (formerly WUMT Wrapper Script) - MajorGeeks

The author of Sledgehammer is member pf100 who also created WUMT.

I suggest WAU Manager as usual: Enable or Disable Windows Update Automatic Updates in Windows 10

I have all along been using Windows Defender but my system has never been rebooted by Windows Update.

Shamefully, I have long been studying the script but still cannot fully understand it.
