The home market has never been a "Cash Cow" for Microsoft. Windows sales to business customers, when you include the charges for support.
Providing free support for multiple revisions of software is a drain on resources, which is why windows ten upgrades were / are free, to move all home users to one OS, If possible. Reducing support from ten years to eighteen months also reduces costs so is a good thing
