Could you provide more details, the monitor goes black and you have to turn that back on i am assuming?
Also what updates did you install?
I have exactly the same problem.
I have done a fresh install of win 10 (after doing an upgrade that left my system very, very sluggish), but whenever I have gone to restart the computer (Acer laptop) - which has been a few times since I've had to re-load a whole lotta stuff - the screen goes black after the initial system shutdown/reboot and never resumes.
I've waited over 30 mins and still nothing, so I have to power it off manually and then power up again.
This black screen only happens after attempting Re-start, not after shutting down.
Any clues??
Thanks
Hi,
From the sound of it I would check the manufacturer website for your machines to see if they have an updated driver for your graphics card
getting a blank screen to me sounds like this could be the issue
Not sure if windows boots up enough to fill this info with the black screen
but have a look in Control Panel, then search for reliability history
check the results for this and see if you have messages for 'Stopped responding and was closed'
Thanks for that.
There's a couple of "Stopped responding and was closed" events, but they were for "Mail" so not relevant I don't think?
I'll check the graphic card driver now.
Cheers
wasn't sure if it would get as far as updating that, I know on the odd occasion my graphics has crashed I get a message saying it has stopped responding and has recovered
on my laptop I do get a black screen during boot, but it only lasts a couple of seconds
hope you find an updated driver
yes screen goes black and takes forever to come back on, and any update that I needed to restart the computer for. Paul, it seemed to be the driver for my video card, did an update and restarted( couple times) and seems to work fine now, thank you
