Need instructions about how to use WuMgr.

I'd like to find some detailed instructions about how to use WuMgr "Options" and the "Auto Update" options below the line after Automatic Update.

The issue I'm having is this. I’m using WuMgr on a Win10 Home computer build 1809 17763.914. I'd like to install build 1903 but the updates don't show up in the list when I click Windows Update in WuMgr. How do I solve this. Also, I'd like to make sure I prevent build 1909 until I'm ready. Can WuMgr do these things for me?

Same thing on another computer running Windows 10 Build 1903 18362.535. How do I get WuMgr to show me the update files for build 1909. I’ll want to install 1909 someday.

And a final question, to stop using WuMgr, do I just erase the program file or are there some other things that need to be done (in the registry)? I hope I can get a good understanding of how to use this program to my benefit, or I'll need to uninstall it and go back to using Microsoft Update.

Hi, upgrade builds are not offered where 'MS' deems your PC potentially incompatible. This could be one reason. That would equally apply to Windows Update of course.

If you wished to perform the upgrade at a time of your own choosing, you can download the iso manually and perform the upgrade manually.

Before any upgrade or major change make sure you have a current disk image - tenforums members tirelessly recommend the routine use of Macrium Reflect (free/paid) so you have an easy route back when things go badly wrong.

WuMgr scans for updates as you know. You can 'hide' updates with a click so they will not be applied.

Documentation or guide? Did you search the forum? This is what I found for you:

Where to find documentation on WuMgr?

Thanks again, Dalchina. To uninstall WuMgr, do I just erase the program? I'm going to run Windows Update on one of the machines I mentioned in my first request. Or maybe there is an uninstaller that removes all the stuff that goes with a particular product. I'm trying out Soft-Organizer by software.informer.com. It claims to uninstall any unwanted programs fully and remove leftovers from other apps. Hope it lives up to it's claim to fame.

I don't think that will help with portable software like WuMgr. In theory you can just delete the app but if you used it to make settings changes then you'd better undo those changes before you delete it.

Personally I only use the version of WuMgr that is built into Slegehammer:

Download Sledgehammer (formerly WUMT Wrapper Script) - MajorGeeks

That will block forced upgrades and let you choose what to install.

Here's WuMgr running when launched by Sledgehammer:

I make use of either WuMgr or WUMT (both launched via Slegehammer) but also sometimes check for updates using WAU Manager:

In any case all utilities show the same available updates. In the case of WAU Manager it requires me to also run Sledgehammer in order to temporarily enable update checks - otherwise updates are totally disabled.

    FYI: I don't get offered 1909 either.

EDIT: Unlike WuMgr - Sledgehammer is supplied with a script to undo all changes made by the program:

Windows Update is not an option on Update and Security.

Since installing WuMgr, Windows Update is not an option on the Update & Security menu. How do I get it back? (should this be a new thread?)

At my end, 1909 has been offered in Windows Update but not in WuMgr, WAU Manager, and Windows Update MiniTool,

Note that a useful tool for 'installing' portable software (creating start menu shortcuts, placing the program in a folder of your choice, and an uninstaller, should you wish to do so, is zipinstaller (free), by the well-known Nirsoft. (The program needs to be in a zip file, so you can create one if needed).

According to the following post, features updates are prevented by metered connection, which I have been using.

How to REALLY stop Win10 from auto updating?
