How can undo a windows update?

I used to have the windows border width set to 4 using winaero tweaker (or a registry edit) to make it easier for me to see the borders and to move them around with the mouse, but now after the last windows update this no longer works. The border is now pretty much non-existent and I absolutely HATE it. I thought I could bring it back to the way it was using system restore, but when I went to system restore I found that although I had it on with a large amount of space to assure that I had lots of restore points, windows at some point had decided to turn off windows restore all on its own. Why in the hell would windows decide to do that all on its own. I have found windows restore used to get me out of all kinds of jams, and now all of the sudden it is worthless because it turns off on its own accord. Is this done on purpose by microsoft so they can control your system regardless of the users desires? I'm beginning to wonder if I still own my computer or if it now belongs to microsoft. At any rate, if anybody has a suggestion of how I can go back to an older version of windows to get my thicker windows borders back I would greatly appreciate it. ~Paul

Hi, it sounds as if you might at some point have received a Windows feature update (upgrade).

When that happens, MS (quite correctly) deletes all SR points related to the previous build. Unfortunately SR is then also usually disabled.

As to how you can get back to a previous build depends on
    - what that previous build is,
    - how long it is since your last feature update
    - what your current build is.

Despite the forum prompting you to enter your build number, we know none of those things.

If you are currently using build 1909, you should be able to uninstall the relevant cumulative °update to go back to 1903, e.g.

The 1903 to 1909 upgrade was not actually done by a CU, it's a small enablement package, KB4517245 which can be uninstalled from the Control Panel.

Oh, I didn't realize that there was a windows update section under Programs and Features, and now I do see the latest Microsoft updates in there. I will try uninstalling them and I suspect that will work. I'll report back if not. Thanks.
