do you have to download all updates before you can upgrade to 1909

I wish to know, if you have to download all updates, or only some, before you can update to new major version like 1909. Because there are some bad updates, i use wutm wrapper script and i would rather choose manually.

The update to 1909 is different from all previous feature updates, it is just a small (~20KB) enablement package that turns on the dormant 1909 features that are already in the 1903 code.

So, you may well need to update to 1903 first before getting 1909. I have successfully updated a machine from a clean install of 1507 (build 10240) direct to 1903 without installing any of the intervening updates, so whatever version you are on it should be possible to go straight to 1903.

I'm on 1809, had 1903 waiting to be installed, but now see 1909 replaced 1903. Perhaps installing 1909 includes a 1903 install of some sort.

It's as stable as 1903 because it's actually the same code, just with a few new features turned on.
