found out ver 1909 is an invitation not a forced update

How to block the Windows 10 November 2019 Update, version 1909, from installing | Computerworld

That is nice, means to me stopping windows update is less of an issue if true on one of my PC's

Do any of you concur that it wont install 1909 unless I click that link? Means you can check for updates and it wont download and install it.

I've done several machines to Version 1909 and there's always been a line under the "Check for updates" line that suggests there is another update available but it has to be clicked to get Version 1909. It's not been a very long download and the Build number stays the same as for Version 1903 when running winver [press and hold Windows key then press r and type winver]. I don't know how long that option will remain when manually checking for updates.

My system did an auto update with the latest CU for v.1809 and afterwards WU shows the “download and install now” link to v.1909. So the system isn’t being forced to auto update to v.1909 like it did for v.1903 ( which failed twice).

Correct. Since 1903, the way updates are being delivered changed a bit. They will now install faster too.
