OEM Windows activates via the retail channel. The check to determine the activation channel will not tell you if the Windows is OEM or FRP (Full Retail Product).
So this information from Brink is defective?
When I read what it says, I dont see it say what your saying. Does not mean your wrong, But I see no differentiation there.
Only 3 channels are mentioned. And OEM is a separate channel from retail.

Do you have any supporting documents?

Everything I read says you have a retail copy you can move it to another PC.
Only if you stll have the paperwork, lose it and I think your stuck.

I checked one other win 10 pro PC I have and it is also retail, but I Don't recall having done anything on it except the upgrade from win 7, which I think may have been an upgrade from retail Vista and I did not have its original install disc. Which makes me think it may be doomed when it dies someday. For that one I had a chat with MS tech, she logged into the PC and fixed it permanently as it had lost its prior good activation for some unknown reason. She ran something that retrieved a key from the bios (maybe), and put it in and it activated and she said it would never fail again. I always wondered what she did exactly, but it has been flawless since then.

How to tell if your Windows 10 license type is OEM, Retail, or Volume | Windows Central

An OEM license refers to the license that a manufacturer installs on new devices. If this is your case, the product key isn't transferable, and you can't use it to activate another installation. (Unless you're re-activating a new installation on the same computer.)

A Retail license refers to the license that you acquire when purchasing a copy of Windows 10 from your local store or an online retailer (such as from Microsoft or Amazon). If you have a Windows 10 Retail license, you can transfer the product key to another computer, as long as you deactivate the old device.

A Volume license is designed for a large business, education, and government scenario. Usually, a Volume license allows organizations to use one master product key to activate any installation of Windows 10. Although you can use this license multiple times on different computers, you can't transfer it with the device when the system changes ownership, and you're not allowed to activate devices that aren't part of the organization.

Actually Microsoft might activate your system with a new motherboard, if the old one died and it has a retail copy would be even better. I did that for a friends PC once years ago. Called them up to activate by phone after I replaced it and they did, it may have been an XP machine or a Vista one. I explained to them what happened and they were quite good about it. Now hers was an OEM install too. She had the COA sticker on the case and they did ask for it though.

Well, at least for a factory off-the-shelf laptop with the Windows 10 product key stored in UEFI, it appears as if I was mistaken:

But then, after upgrading the same system to Pro using only the Windows 10 Pro generic product key:

How to re-activate Windows 10 after a hardware change | Windows Central

You CAN replace the motherboard and reactivate windows, which is good news. So you DO NOT need the original install key, no need to call MS, chat with tech support, give them windows install ID numbers, IF your PC is activated with a digital license linked to your account, so this is good news. I have another thread on here also talking about it. I have another PC with an old MB which is retail channel Pro and I dont have the keys, have no paperwork, so that means I dont have to buy another copy of windows, it can be moved to new hardware.
