Update for April (creator or something) sticks at random percentages.r

It's the April update, I just now have internet on this PC. It gets stuck at random percentages, one night for an hour so I assumed froze. I'm scared of doing this, but time is nigh as 10 is about to force it.

Also, when it says don't turn the power off but you do, how bad is that? Because I didn't wanna potentially have do it w/o posting here first. Like, I read a net adapter could cause it, but I unplugged the a6100 Netgear dongle for this and it still did it the second time.

Windows version 1803 (OS Build 17134.1069)

Sometimes it just does take a long time- sometimes hours. Be patient. Try applying the upgrade without accepting updates. I had a laptop that took hours - overnight- then failed. I tried again without accepting updates as part of the upgrade- complete in an hour. I then applied the updates.

There's a long thread on the forum discussing the time it takes. Also depends on the speed of your connection. Not accepting updates simplifies this hugely for poor connections.

Uninstall any 3rd party AV (Avast doesn't seem to cause problems).

Recommended as ever before any major change: create or update your disk image to give you a way back if your PC becomes unbootable so you can recover without hours or days of technical help which may or may not be able to help... Macrium reflect (free/paid) + external storage. Time and again tenforums recommends the routine use of disk imaging.

Thank you so much! I had more patience and it did it's job. Now I'm all up to date!

Now's the time to create a new base disk image - the start of routinely imaging your new installation to external storage- before something goes wrong. Protects you and your data - even if your disk fails- so you can restore your system to a previously good state relatively quickly.

    E.g. Macrium reflect (free/paid)
