While I'm not inept at this kind of stuff. This is looking like a somewhat risky thing to use (maybe cause I only just woke up). Is the 1903 update actually worth it?
If you want to stay secure you have little choice, really.
Your 1803 reaches end of support on November 12, 2019 after which there will be no more security updates. Your only other option would be to upgrade to 1809, but support for that ends May 12, 2020.

Are there other ways I can find the problem other then this disk verrifier?
A reset save files or reset save files equivalent (reinstall drivers and applications) may be able to be performed instead of troubleshooting.
